Our Ambassador
British Ambassador to Finland, Dr Valerie Caton, arrived on 29 March 2006 and presented her credentials to President of the Republic Tarja Halonen at an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace on 30 March. Dr Caton is a career diplomat whose last post was in London where she was Head of Climate Change and Energy Group at the Foreign Office.
Dr Caton’s husband, David Harrison, works remotely in Finland for a UK law firm where he specialises in EC competition law. The couple have two children: a daughter and a son, both at school in Finland. The family have also acquired a Finnish dog, a Golden Retriever called Max.
